A Command To Love

Matthew 5:43-45

43 “You have heard that it was said,‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’44 [o]But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you,do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Quickword: A Command To Love

It’s easy, maybe even a natural human reaction to love your neighbor and hate your enemy. Jesus as part of the sermon on the mount gives us His command on how to respond to our enemies.

- Love your enemies

- Bless those who curse you

- Do good to those who hate you

- Pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you

I believe both here in America and abroad, there are some difficult days ahead of us. I also believe that God will see us through, yet it’s going to require us to love people whom we have no desire to love; this will include people who have done us wrong, people who want to destroy us for reasons we cannot comprehend. We have a commandment to love; we can only do it through the grace of God.
