A Day in Paradise

Revelation 21: 1-3

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, [a]John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

Quickword: A Day In Paradise

Yesterday was a telework day for me but I had to drive to the pharmacy on Fort Sam Houston to pick up a prescription. When I arrived at the main post gate to show my identification card, the guard on duty politely ask how was I doing and my response is a phrase that I often use, that being, it’s another day in paradise. He chuckled and said sir our ideas of paradise are very different, I laughed and drove off. When it was my turn at the pharmacy window, the young lady behind the glass asked like the gate guard, how was my day going and again my response was it’s another day in paradise, she laughed and said, sir you need to get out more often. When I return to the parking lot and got in my car in a theocentric moment for me, although I used the phrase it’s another day in paradise casually, sitting in my car I realized it actually was. You see Fort Sam is a quaint historical military base but it could not remotely be considered paradise. You see what became evident to me is that everyday that the Lord gives us is a day in Paradise. Paradise is a matter of perspective . On yesterday, my casual statement became a time of praise and worship for me, sitting in my car on a late Thursday morning. My paradise was defined by the fact that:

- God woke me up this morning

- I had a place to live where I’m comfortable

- I was sitting in my car that God has blessed me with

- My family circle at least today is unbroken

- The blessings of a praying wife and a loving family

- I‘m blessed to have medical care

- It was truly another day in paradise

This quick word today is simply a celebration that everyday is a day in paradise, the gift of life is to be engaged with enthusiasm. Yet the beauty of everyday will pale in comparison to that day that John pens in Revelation 21:1-3.

John shares his vision of paradise:

- A New Heaven and a New Earth will appear

- The New Jerusalem will appear as a bride adorned for her husband

- Paradise is God dwelling among His people and we embrace His presence.

If you have not got it yet, even in the world

that we live in with all of its ills, it is still another day in paradise. It is another day in paradise when we open up our hearts and allow God to dwell among us. He will be our God and we his people. I pray that you have an amazing day in paradise.
