Quickword: A God of Another Chance
This past Sunday, I hung out with my son at the Falcons- Lions game. With 2:18 left on the clock in the 4th quarter the Falcons were winning 20-16 when the Falcons Russell Gage fumbled and the Lions recovered the ball with a chance to win. The Lions Quarterback Tim Boyle in the waiNing moments threw an interception that allowed the Falcons to win. Reflecting on the game provided a theocentric moment for me. You see when Gage fumbled he thought he had cost his team the game. When the Lions QB Boyle threw the interception it cost the Lions a chance to win the game. This exchange reminded me that we serve a God of another chance. Have you ever made a mistake and thought it was over but God made a way for you to get the victory? Have you ever made a mistake and lost a game, a job, a relationship, or something or someone valuable; but then God gave you another chance. All of us, even those who believe they are super Saints have made mistakes, and failing short of the glory of God. The good news is that God is a God of Another Chance.
- Sometimes God helps us through our mistakes immediately.
-Sometimes we have to wait on God to see us through.
- The Good news is that in due season, if we remain faithful, God will give us another chance.
Gage was redeemed before the game was over, Boyle will get another chance to lead his team to a win again maybe as early as the next game. If you have fumbled or been intercepted by the vicissitudes of life, I’ve got some good news for you and me. The good news is that God is a God of another chance and another chance and another chance…. That’s the blessings of God’s Grace and Mercy. No matter what you are going through, hold on, just keep going; the victory is yours!
