A Season for Everything

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

1 There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under the heavens:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

Quick Word: A Season for Everything

Twenty years ago today, many of us can recall where we were when terrorist highjacked four Airplanes crashing them into the towers 1 and 2 of the World Trade Centers in New York City, a third plane was intentionally crashed in the the Pentagon in Northern Virginia, and a 4th plane believed to be headed to the U.S. Capitol crashed into a field in Shanksville PA due to the courage of passengers and crew on that plane who fought against their attackers. September 11, 2001 was a day of tremendous loss of life, these events sparked a war in Afghanistan that lasted for 20 years which again led to the tremendous loss of life of U.S Military Members, Allied Soldiers & Afghan Nationals especially women and children. Countless others lived with life altering wounds that forever changed lives. Yet in the 20 years bracketed by 9-11-2001 and 9-11-2021, we have witnessed the Grace and Mercy of God. We pray today for families who lost love ones on 9-11, children who lost parents, husband’s and wives who would never embraced again, parents who had to bury children as a result of these attacks and the subsequent war.

We thank God that many of us over these last 20 years have been blessed; our families are intact, babies have added to our families, we’ve witnessed weddings, birthdays, and Anniversaries. We have also had to say farewell to Mothers & Fathers, other family members and friends as the seasons of life continue to move forward. We have been able to live knowing that seasons come and seasons go. Today, on this twentieth Anniversary of 9-11, we pause to remember these tragic events and vow to never forget those who died, those who lost so much so unexpectedly, those who live with the pain of loss everyday and a desire to do our part to make lives of all better.

- There is a Season for Everything

- The Seasons of Life are filled with Great Joys and Tremendous Loss

- Take Comfort in knowing that God is with us during all the seasons of our lives.

Dear God in this space today we seek comfort in your presence. We ask now that you be with families of 9-11 and remind them of your word that You will never leave or forsake us. Father I ask now that you will continue to be with us individually and collectively in the seasons that we are currently in. Lord, thank you for you Grace and your Mercy today and in the days to come, in Jesus name, Amen!
