A Tree Planted by the River!

Psalms 1:1-3

1 Blessed is the man

Who walks not in the counsel of the [a]ungodly,

Nor stands in the path of sinners,

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And in His law he [b]meditates day and night.

3 He shall be like a tree

Planted by the [c]rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season,

Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

This psalms gives us the elements for living a blessed life. A blessed life is a happy life; it is not a life that does not have challenges but is blessed because of a rooted relationship with God. A Blessed Man…

The Quickword today calls for us to examine where we are planted. It calls for us to examine who we are in relationships with. These relationships cause us to walk with the ungodly, stand with sinners, and sit in the seat of the scornful. These relationships are detrimental to our relationships with God. The longer we stay in them the more comfortable we become in them. Notice in the text, we start walking, then standing and finally we then sit with sin. Yet the Good news is that we can become like a tree planted by the rivers of waters whose roots run deep. In this planted position, we bring forth fruit, our leafs shall not wither and all that we do propers. Where are we planted? I want to be blessed and planted like a tree by the river. When we are planted by the river we can withstand the storm winds of life. When we are planted by the river we are blessed through the changing season of life. When we are planted by the river, our Faith in God is rooted which results in us being blessed! Thank God for being planted by the River!
