Do We Understand?

Isaiah 40:28-31

28 Have you not known?

Have you not heard?The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary.

His understanding is unsearchable.

29 He gives power to the weak,

And to those who have no might He increases strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,

31 But those who wait on the Lord

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.

Quickword: Do We Understand?

This brief Quickword comes in the form of questions to both believers and non-believers. Have you not known? Have you not heard? Simply stated do we understand where we are and what we are up against? Have you not known; Have you not heard? In the midst of the confusion in the world.

- God the creator of the world neither faints or gets weary.

- God gives power to the weak and gives strength to those who have no might.

- Gods knows that we all get tired, even the youth faint and the young fall.

We are living in some perilous times. There is a spirit of division that runs rampant throughout the nation. There is the continual battle of republicans against democrats, the rich verses the poor, straight vs gay, races and ethnicity against one another. We are witnessing at record levels mass shootings and once again the loss of life of a young man of color seemingly at the hands of those who have taken an oath to serve and protect. The default mindset of the day is that we are to be against something or someone without any logical thinking or more importantly any consultation with God. I openly confess I’m tired, tired of the lack of unity and I’m not talking about the world, but the lack of unity among the people of God. What keeps me encouraged is the word of God. The words of the prophet Isaiah are just as relevant today as ever: I’m tired, yet the word tells me; But they, that’s the shout right here! Do you understand? The text makes it clear to us; But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

My beloved brother and my strong sister, I encourage you to wait on the Lord and He will renew our strength. Wait on the Lord!
