Do You Want To Be Made Well?

John 5:1-6

1 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, [a]Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, [b]paralyzed, [c]waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

Quickword: Do You Want To Be Made Well?

We continue today to examine the journey of Jesus to the cross at Calvary. On this journey, Jesus encountered a diverse group of people, many of them in need. In today’s Quickword, we find Jesus engaging a man who had an infirmity for 38 years. When Jesus saw him, already knowing his condition asked the man do you want to be made well?

- There comes a time in all of our lives where the challenges of life leave us unable to move. The loss of a love one, the end of a relationship, the loss of employment, a global pandemic, etc…

- Jesus knows about all of conditions, our conditions may have impacted us for 38 hours, 38 days, 38 months or 38 years.

- When Jesus asks us do we want to be made well, we should not make excuses, answer yes to the one who can meet our every need!

My brothers and sisters, Jesus is available to hear our every concern. He knows about the Dr’s diagnosis, He knows about the financial issues, He knows about crisis on the job and the chaos in the home. The question today is do you want to be made well? Dear God in Heaven, I pray now for the persons who will read this post who find themselves unable to move beyond their current situations. The answer to the question is yes, we want to be made well.

Therefore, we cast all of our cares unto you knowing that you care for us. God, bless us and make us well according to your will and your way in the name of Jesus!
