Don't Become Distracted

Luke 8:4-10

While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants.Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”

When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,

“‘though seeing, they may not see;    though hearing, they may not understand.’

Quickword: Don't Become Distracted

In four days, American midterm elections will determine the trajectory of this country. Issues such as voting rights, healthcare to include abortion rights, Education and Student Loan relief, foreign aid to U. S allies, benefits such as social security and Medicare paid for by citizens will be on the line just to name a few. I simply encourage each of you regardless of who you are voting for not to get distracted. Don't get distracted by the statements and tweets of Ye and Kyrie. Don't get distracted by media talking heads both on the left and the right. I encourage all of us to stay focused on the word of God. Distraction as illustrated in the parable of the Sower and seed show that the word of God will fall on a path and be trampled. Other seed will fall on rocky ground and get no moisture and die Still other seed will fall among thorns and when the plants grows it will be choked . Still other seed will fall on good soil and yield a crop 100 times more than sown. My beloved brothers and sisters, I encourage you not to become distracted by the ways of the world. Stay focused on the teachings of Jesus,

scripture teaches us :

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,on will vote on members of Congress (Mathew 25:35)

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (Matthew 28:19)

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. (Phillipians 2:3-4)

Don't become distracted, stay focused and the word will fall on good soil. Have a Blessed Friday. Make sure to vote!
