Don’t Worry…

Psalms 37 1-11

1 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit[a] your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. 6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.

7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.

9 For evildoers shall be [b]cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth. 10 For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, But it shall be no more. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Quickword: Don’t Worry…

Yesterday, a friend of mine sent me a audio devotional by Pastor Tony Evans entitled “ Don’t Worry”. The word was appropriate as I was somewhat consumed with the unnecessary movement of military forces into Ukraine. I was concerned as I was reminded of the injustice as the trial of the only police officer present at the killing of Breonna Taylor began in Kentucky; the trial is not looking at her murder but for wanton endangerment as a result of stray bullets that were fired into the neighbors apartment. Prosecutors in New York leading an investigation into the criminal activities of the former president abruptly resigned alledgedly because the Manhattan District Attorney is hesitant to move the case forward. As a Preacher, retired Soldier, student of political science searching for peace in a chaotic world, I was drawn to Psalms 37 where the words of the psalmist offered calm in chaos, instructions to trust and delight in the Lord and future justice of God himself. I offer the 1st eleven verses for words of assurance but I asked if you have time read the Psalm in its entirety.

- Don‘t Fret because of evildoers

- Trust, delight and commit your ways unto the Lord

- The meek shall inherit the earth and delight in the abundance of peace.

Blessings upon each and everyone of you today.
