Faith That Heals

Luke 8: 43-48

43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years,[c] but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.

45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.

When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.”

46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”

47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”

Quickword: Faith that heals

In this familiar passage of scripture, we find a woman who has been dealing with an illness for 12 years. This woman had been bleeding for 12 years and nobody could heal her. One day she encountered Jesus, came up from behind Him and touched the hem of His garment and was immediately healed. Jesus asked the question who touched me and the disciples responded, master there are people crowding you and we don’t know. Jesus response was I know someone touch me because power has gone out from me. ( Y’all missed a shout right there). Then this woman came to Jesus, fell at his feet and told Him it was she who touched Him and that she was immediately healed. Then Jesus said to the woman, daughter thy faith has healed you go in peace.

- There is a need for many of us to

be healed

- Jesus still has the power to meet our every need

- Our Faith in God through Jesus Christ can make us whole

Today you may find yourself needing to be healed. The healing needed may not be a physical healing, perhaps you need to be healed spiritually or emotionally. We can take a lesson from this woman in the text and reach out to Jesus. We cannot reach out and physically touch the hem of His garment but through faith we can call His name. Faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen. In other words, if we have Faith to believe that God can heal us, we can be healed, God has the power to heal us. So today, I encourage you to take your cares to the one who had enough power to heal a women who simply touched the hem of His garment. God is able! The question is do we have the faith to believe we can be healed?
