1st Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Quickword: From Pity to Praise
This week has been challenging to say the least. From learning of the death of a friends mother, to blowing a tire on the busy highway, to having an unexpected costly home repair, to dealing with the never ending office dynamics on the job. I found myself having a pity party. Yet this morning, I'm grateful to God because no matter what we are facing there is always a word from the Lord to encourage us. If we are honest this morning all of us are going through something. Here in the text, the Apostle Paul is reminding the Church at Thessalonica to stay encouraged during the challenges of everyday living. One of the ways to stay encouraged is through our responses to life challenges: Paul reminds us to:
Rejoice Always
Pray without ceasing
To give thanks unto God for everything
My brothers and my sisters, in its simplicity this text gives us hopes in spite of what we are facing. This morning I rejoice in the goodness of who God is. This morning, I continue to pray continuously knowing that God still hears and answers prayers. This morning, I give thanks unto the Lord for he is good; instead of a pity party, let's have a praise party. I'll start, no matter the ups and downs of life the Lord is worthy to be praised.
