God knows our name!

Isaiah 43:1 But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,

And He who formed you, O Israel:

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by your name;

You are Mine.

Quickword: God knows our name!

I received a message recently in which the person called me by my name. That's makes sense that someone would called me by my name but this person message identified me by my middle name. My middle name is what my family and those close to my family mostly in my childhood church and community new me by. I have not lived in my hometown in over 30 plus years, yet this person knew my name. I used this as backdrop for our Quickword this morning. God address Jacob by his name, he is addressed as Jacob and then by the name Isreal which God bestowed upon him after he wrestled allnight with and was blessed, God called him Isreal. There is a blessing for believers when God knows our name.

  • Fear not, God has redeemed us

  • God knows and calls us by name

  • God declares that we belong too Him

The good news of the text is that God knows our names. The fact that God knows our name is significant because it indicates not only does He know our names, but He knows us , He knows us individually and collectively. He knows what we are going through; He knows what we stand in need of; He knows about every aspect of our lives. Just like Jacob/Isreal we have been redeemed, we don't have to be afraid because He is our God and we are the people of God. He knows our names!
