He Can Do It!

John 6:10-11

10 Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them[b]to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.

Quickword: He Can Do It!

The Quickword today is taken from John 6: 1-14; highlighting verse 10-11. On His journey to the cross, Jesus travels takes Him to places where He preaches the word of His father. As a result of His teachings, great crowds followed. In this text, He travels from the Sea of Galilee or the Sea of Tiberius and goes up in a mountain to teach. When He sees this great multitude coming He says to Phillip, how do we feed them? It was a rhetorical question because Jesus knew what He was going to do. Andrew, another disciple and brother of Simon Peter says, there is a young lad who has five barely loaves and two fish. Those of you who know the story should be a witness here and say “He Can Do It”…

Jesus has the crowd to sit down, there are five thousand men, He took the loaves and then the fish and gave thanks. Then He distributed them to His disciples and then His disciples down to the people sitting on the ground and they had as much as they wanted. I took you the long way today, I could have simply stated that Jesus took two fish and five loaves of bread and feed five thousand minus women and children and proclaimed, He can do it! Yet I wanted you to see how the Lord moves.

- First, He offered them food for their souls through the word of God. Don’t get caught up following folks who don’t feed you spiritually.

- Second, we are surprised by the blessings of the fish and the loaves and the capacity of Jesus to feed the multitude, yet Jesus knew what he was up too.

- Lastly, when we are blessed by the Lord, He provides not only enough but more than enough.

This word today is just a reminder that He (Jesus) can do it! Whatever you stand in need of at this moment, Jesus knows what you need, He has the power and capacity to meet our every need and when He meets our need, it’s always more than enough. If you want help me today, I’ll praise Him all by myself! Jesus can do it! Jesus can do it, Jesus can do it, Yes He can!
