Heal the Land…

2 Chronicles 7:14

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Quickword: Heal The Land ….

This very familiar passage of scripture is appropriate for the times that we are living. The civil unrest at some of our major colleges and universities as a result of the attack by Hamas against Isreal and Israel’s response. This conflict has impacted already strained relationships and left thousands if not millions fighting for their very survival. The ongoing struggle to enact a comprehensive immigration policy now have second and third orders of affect when people are transported by red states to blue states whose resources have been overwhelmed. The desire by many to strip away rights of women to choose healthcare, the continued attempts to rewrite history and to disenfranchise people people of color to include the right to vote is in full effect. The political divide between two dysfunctional political parties who failed to realized that we are supposed to be the United States of America and not the Divided States of America. The melting pot that makes us who we are is not one of the catalyst that is ripping us apart. I could spend the entire morning writing about the ills of our society yet this text calls for those of us who proclaim to be the people of God to pray. Tomorrow, May 2nd is designated as the National Day of prayer but I’ve learned that everyday is a good day to pray.

Let’s pray: Dear God in Heaven, we come before your presence acknowledging that you are the Sovereign God. The God who is maker and creator of all things. God, this morning, we the people of God heed your call to pray fto pray. God we come this morning in the most humbliest way that we know how. God we petition you to hear our cries and to heal the land. God, forgive us of our sins, gives us the vision to turn from our wicked ways. Gid heal the land from the north to the south, God heal the land from the East to the west. God where we are divided unite the people of God so that we maybe the salt and light of the world. I pray for every leader across this land, I pray that they have a authentic encounter with you as they lead and govern according to your will and your way and not their agenda or the agenda of a political party. God, have your way today, we will be careful to honor your name. This is thy servants prayer. Amen
