Psalm 27:1-5
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked came against me
To eat[a] up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.
4 One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the [b]beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
5 For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.
Quickword: Hope in Times of Trouble
The words of the Psalmist King David seem to be appropriate for this current season that we are collectively in. The continued number of mass shootings, the intentional use of governmental power to roll back rights of traditional marginalized groups of persons. David’s words, though war may arise against me, in this I will remain confident.
- Let us remain confident that the Lord is still our light and salvation.
- Let us remain confident that the Lord knows the desires of our hearts.
- Let us remain confident that in the time of trouble the lord shall hide us in His pavilion.
I know for a great number of us the circumstances of life are at a minimum challenging. Yet, today, I want to remind each of us to remain hopeful even in times of trouble. We can remain hopeful because the Lord Is still mighty and string, remain hopeful because the Lord is our light and salvation, remain hopeful in the times of trouble because we know our help comes from the Lord
