John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Quickword: In this Season!
This week this text hit home. I need to be careful to not allow my personal feelings to led me to add or take away something from the text. We are in the midst of one of the most important elections in our lifetimes. Instead of debating policies and legislation that will move the country, state or city forward, we have resorted to child like behavior of name calling. This text captures to me exactly where we are. We live in a time where the thief (Satan) is on his job. Satan has us so divided that we cannot have a civil discussion over a difference of opinion over policy. We have reduced this process to democrat vs republican, left vs right, nationalism vs acceptance under the false pretense of Christianity. The thief is here and his ability to divide us is this day and time is startling. I pray that we recognize the spiritual warfare that is taking place in this season. As believers in Christ, we need to put on the whole armor of God. The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy but the good news is Jesus has come so that we may have life and life more abundantly.
Let us not allow the thief to steal, kill and destroy us.
Let us invoke the presence of God in this season through prayer.
Let us be reminded that we have a savior in Jesus who has come to give us life and life more abundantly.
Dear God in heaven, I come humbly before your throne of Grace acknowledging that that you are the maker and creator of all things in heaven and on earth. God I plead with you for your direction, your guidance and your protection in this season. I pray that we authentically individually and collectively come to you to speak into our hearts so that we can move beyond this season of divisiveness. God, we (I) need you. Move as touch as only you can in the name of Jesus. Amen
