Jesus Paid It All

Hebrews 13:1-2

1 Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

Quickword: Jesus Paid It All

I recently encountered a young couple at a restaurant who had forgotten their debit card. The husband assumed the wife had the method of payment and vice versa. Their young daughter was with them and was getting restless. They asked the cashier if they could just give them their debit card number as they knew it by memory . The cashier politely declined and suggested that they go home and retrieved the card. The restaurant was closing in 15 minutes and they would not have time to get their card and return. I was reminded of today’s Quickword scripture, (Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.). I didn’t know this young couple but as this is a restaurant I visit often, when I paid for my order, I instructed the cashier to put it on my card. The couple was appreciative of the gesture and as I turned with my order and made my way out of the door, along with thank you, they said bless you. It was in that moment that I realize we become so consumed with ourselves that we miss opportunities to show brotherly love to one another. I realize I offered to pay not knowing the cost. When I got into my car, I was reminded of what Jesus did for you and for me. He died on Calvary for our sins. He knowingly left the glory of heaven and came to earth to die for the remission of our sins. Jesus paid it all! The good news is that in the turbulent world we live in, the blood still works!
