Phillipians 3:12-14
12 Not that I have already attained,[c] or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have [d]apprehended; but one thing I do,forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Quickword: Keep Pressing!
I want to ask a question to each of us today to jumpstart our Quickword today. The question being what is your goal or end state. The goal or end state could be your career, your relationship or your ministry. When we get to the end and look back what do we want to see. My brothers and sister all of us headed tow some end state whether planned or unplanned. This text in Phillipians 3 is a word of encouragement for both thise who know where you are and or going and also for those who are not quite sure. Paul gives us some words of encouragement on this journey call life.
- None of us have been completely successful, yet we keep pressing towards our goal/end state
- In order to reach our goals we must keep pressing, forgetting those things which are behind us.
- Keep pressing towards the goal for the prize of the upward call in Christ Jesus
One of the tricks of Satan is to put up enough barriers and obstacles to make us want to give up and throw in the towel. Paul reminds us to keep pressing. I want to echo Paul’s words of encouragement this morning. Keep Pressing towards the job/ position you desire, keep pressing to finish the degree, keep pressing through the illness, keep pressing to hold the relationship/ marriage together , keep pressing to raise your children in the fear of the Lord. I know, some days it seems as if you are losing or fighting an uphill battle, just keep pressing! Keep pressing towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. What God has for you it is for you! Keep Pressing!
