Keep Watching

Luke 21:34-36

34 But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with [h]carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may [i]be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Quickword: Keep Watching

There is a phrase used by a segment of the population, not as much today being “I’m living my best life”. Here in the Gospel of Luke there is a reminder that while we are living our best life to keep watching. We are to be watching for the Lord’s return. This reminder does not mean for us to stop our activities and just wait until the Lord cracks the sky. The reminder is a call to us to live a life that is pleasing unto God to the point that when He comes we don’t have to get ready because we are already ready. Keep Watching….

  • Let us not get so caught up in the affairs of the world and it’s pleasures that the Day of the Lord catches us unexpectedly.

  • The day of the Lord will come like a trap over the whole earth.

  • Watch and Pray so that we will be able to stand and be ready when the Lord returns.

Often times we treat God as this omnipotent power with a checklist of things that we must get done before He returns. Actually, it is only by His Grace that we are made righteous through the life, death and resurrection of Christ. Enjoy your life, yet I believe it should be grounded in the knowing that we have been redeemed. Therefore, we should not watch looking at the sky for His return but we should daily examine our behavior and stewardship of the things God has entrusted unto us. Are we individually and collectively living our lives worthy to be ready upon His return. Watch and pray, let us strive to live our lives so that on the day of the Lord, we will be found worthy of standing in His presence.
