Meditate On These Things

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Quickword: Meditate On These Things

We live in a world where information travels at an amazing speed. Social media platform puts information before us as events are unfolding. The need or desire of some to be the first to post or respond without all or accurate information leads to further confusion. Here in this text, in the preceding verses of Philippians 4, Paul urged the Brothers and Sisters at Philippi to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Now Paul leaves some final instructions that are relevant for those of us in the 21st Century. Paul says to us, mediate on those things which are praiseworthy; in other words if it does not bring praise and honor to God, keep it moving.

  • Satan uses the chaos of the world to distract from God.

  • Our peace of mind is impacted by the things we focus on.

  • Mediatate on the things that are praiseworthy to God.

The Apostle Paul gives us the parameters to ensure our mindset lines up with the will and desires of God for us in our thinking: whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
