Psalms 118: 1 & 29
1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures for ever
29 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures for ever
Quickword: Oh, Give Thanks Unto The Lord
On this Thanksgiving day, I deliberately chose Psalms 118. I chose this particular Psalms because it opens and closes with the same instructions or directive. The Psalmist opens and closes the Psalm urging those who would hear, sing or speak these versus to start with the phrase Oh. Oh signifies great emotion. When we think of the goodness of the Lord, it should elicit an Oh...
Oh, the Lord is the author and finisher of our faith
Oh, the Lord is a healer
Oh, the Lord is a provider
Oh, the Lord is patient
Oh, the Lord is just
Oh, the Lord is infinite
Oh, the Lord is forgiving
Oh, the Lord is our redeemer
Oh, the Lord is a protector
Oh, the Lord is heart-fixer
Oh, the Lord is peace in a storm
Oh, the Lord is a mind regulator
Oh, the Lord is a deliverer
Oh, the Lord is a waymaker
Oh, the Lord is good
Oh, the Lord is .......
As you share a meal today with family, friends and neighbors, at some point just take a moment and think of the goodness of the Lord. I believe it will elicit an Oh. It will cause you to cry out Oh, because the Lord has done something for each and everyone of us. He has blessed us publicly and privately. He has keep us in our going out and coming in, He has watched over us through dangers, seen and unseen. I thank God for those whom we share with today and I thank God for those love ones whose precious memories flood our hearts and minds, who chair is empty and voice now silent. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures for ever!
