Overcoming Opposition

Acts 4:1-4

1 Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, 2 being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

Quickword: Overcoming Opposition

Peter and John continued preaching the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. As a result the priest, captain of the temples d the Sadducees were disturbed by this teaching. These particular persons were powerful laid their hands on Peter and John and had them arrested. Because of their preaching, many heard the word and believed. The number of men who believed came to about five thousand.

- The preaching of the good news always faces opposition.

- The opposition to preaching can lead to personal adverse consequences for those who preach.

- However, in spite of the opposition, many believed and five thousand men were added.

My Brothers and Sisters, no matter the opposition the preaching of the Gospel still leads men and women to Jesus. Those who proclaim the gospel will face opposition and even personal tribulations, yet the reward in the end is see others overcome and accept Christ.
