Power in God’s Love

1st John 4:7-11

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Quickword: Power in God’s Love

The word love is so casually tossed around that the meaning as been watered down. This text in 1st John gently reminds us of what love really is and its origins. We are called to love one another without conditions and regardless of our differences real and perceived.

- Love is of God, everyone who loves is born of God and knows God

- He who does not love does not know God, for God is love

- God’s love for us was manifested In that He sent His only begotten son as the propitiation of our sins that we might live

In this Quickword space I cannot adequately describe the love that God has for us. I can only ask that we attempt to love others the way God loves us. God loves us in spite of us. God loves us and looks beyond our faults and supplies our every need. God loves us and never leaves or forsakes us. There is power in love because God is love. I’m challenging myself today to try and love even those who don’t love me. Whatever it takes, even if I have to love them from a distance. God loves us, so we ought to love one another.
