Remain Faithful Unto The End

Revelation 6:9-11

9 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held.

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.

Quickword: Remained Faithful Unto The End

We have been exploring this week the opening of the seals in Revelation chapter 6 and a brief analysis. Today we examine the opening of the 5th seal. When this seal is opened, John details that he sees under the alter, the souls of those who have been slain for the word of God and their testimony. These who have been martyred are heard crying out to the Lord, asking how long will it be before you judge and avenge our blood on those who live on the earth. The response to the those who cried out is a word for those of us who find ourselves under duress in our current situations and circumstances….

- These sou were given a white robe and told to rest a little while longer

- Others will also suffer for their testimony of Gods word

- Rest assured that those who perish preaching & teaching the word of God will be avenged by God almighty.

One of the most difficult things for many of us is to wait on the Lord to take action. We have been conditioned to try and take matters in our own hands. We are reminded in this text that the Lord at all times knows where we are and what we are going through. We take comfort in knowing that the Saints of God who have suffered and preceded us in death will be avenged when the Lord returns. Remain faithful, for no man knows the day nor the hour when the Lord will return. Our challenge is to ensure we are living a life pleasing unto Him until He comes or calls us from our rest beyond this life.
