Mark 6:30-32
30 Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. 31 And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. 32 So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.
Quickword: Rest A While
There are some of us who are returning to schedules before COVID-19 brought life in many ways to a stand still. Here me clearly, I think it is of vital importance that we get back to some sort of prepandemic routine. However, I think there are some lessons learned that we can incorporate for better self care and quality of life. Here in this text, the disciples come to Jesus and detailed all they had done and taught and Jesus responded to then by saying come aside by yourselves and to a deserted place and rest a while.
- The need to work, minister and serve is vitally important to building and maintaining community.
- Take some time for yourself and rest and replenish
- Prioritize what needs to be done and what can wait- find balance
I've learned that nobody can pour out to others when your own cup is empty. It is ok to say no, it ok to take a day off, it's ok to take care of yourself. I'm late posting this morning simply out of self care; I rarely sleep in but this morning I got it in. I truly know that because I took sometime today, the rest of my day will be productive. Just a side question, when was the last time you spent some uninterrupted time with the Lord so that your cup can be replenished? Rest A While!
