Isaiah 40:28-29
28 Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Quickword: Restored Power
This morning like some of you, I'm tracking the hurricane, now tropical storm that has impacted the state of Florida. One of the major impacts of any storm is the loss of power. This morning as I pray for family and friends in harms way, the news reports that 2.5 million homes are without power. As I listened to this morning's weather report, I find myself asking a question, that question being how many homes are without power? The power I'm talking about is not electrical power but the power of the Holy Spirit. Damage caused by the storms of life have cut power to many homes. This text reminds me that the power or connection to God can be restored. The report I bring this morning is that, if you have not known, if you have not heard there is one who can restore power.
The everlasting God, the creator of the world neither sleeps nor slumbers.
His understanding of our human conditions is insearchable
He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might he increases their strength.
This morning as we pray for those who have been impacted by the storm Ian, we pray that te damage is minimal and that power is quickly restored. To those of us whose are without the power of the Holy Spirit, we can call on the Lord, the creator of the world, the one who neither sleeps nor slumber to restore our power. The following verses of this text in Isaiah 40 remind us in verses 30-31 that
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
