Ride On King Jesus…

Revelation 6:5-6

5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales[c] in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A [d]quart of wheat for a [e]denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”

Quickword: Ride On King Jesus…

The previous two days, I’ve been led to look at the opening of the seals in Revelation chapter 6. The opening of the 1st seal provided insight when Jesus returns as the conquering King. The opening of the second seal provided insight of a rider on a red horse, this image let it be made known that there will be conflict on the earth until the coming again of the Lord, yet with the understanding that God almighty still reigns. Here in verses 5-6 , the third seal is opened, a rider on a Black horse is revealed , the Black horse symbolizes a time of mourning due to scarcity among the earth.

- When the Rider on the Black horse appears, there will be scarcity throughout the land.

- When the Rider on the Black hired arrives, the cost of items will be great and the thirst for material goods will permeate the land

- When the Rider on the Black announces himself, the world‘s value of the Word of God will be greatly diminished.

When this awful period of time is upon us, it will be a time of great mourning. Yes, scarcity of material goods will be great, the cost to obtain these goods will also be great. The truth of the matter is that mourning will come not due to scarcity and cost of earthly possessions but as a result of the turning away from the word of God. I encourage each and everyone of us to not become so enamored with the riches of this world that we miss the blessings of the Word of God. Hebrews 4:12-13 reminds us that the word of God will illuminate who we are and to whom we belong and serve:

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Those of us who remain faithful to the word of God will be ready even when the rider on the Black Horse appears. Yet we know that ultimately Jesus our conquering King will prevail; so even as we pen this post, we shout Ride on King Jesus!
