Exodus 3:13-14

11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?

12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.

13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?

14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.

Thirty years ago today, I stood at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Clarksville , TN and preached my initial (trial) sermon. I preached from Exodus 3 highlighting the call of Moses to God to go to Pharoah and demand that he let the children of Isreal go. 30 years later, the call as a preacher to demand justice for the marginalized is still a necessity. Over these last 30 years, the Lord has allowed me to proclaim His word all over this country and in Japan, Korea and Thailand. This morning as I thank God for 30 years of ministry and those mentors and colleagues who I've had the great privilege to share in carrying the gospel. From my friend and Father in ministry Rev. Dr. James E. Victor, Rev. Dr. Earl L. Bledsoe, the late Rev Dr. Ronald E. Terry Sr. who made provisions for me to be ordained 5 years later. I'm grateful and thankful to all of the Pastors, Minister and congregations who have supported my attempts to be a servant of God. In addition to the above name Pastors, I'm indebted to Pastor Wilbur Greene ( Georgia) , Rev Dr. Ricky Turner ( Kansas), the late Rev. Laverne Gill( Virginia), the late Rev. James Green (Virginia), Army Chaplains Caldwell and Causey( Japan). Rev. Dr. Ken Board ( GA/TX). I thank God for the leadership of my current Pastor Rev. Dr. Kenneth Kemp and the Antioch Church over the last 12 years. . I'm grateful for those friends in ministry who show up because of relationships without having to be called ( Rev. Cal Gager, Rev. Randy Storey, Pastor Dwight Williams, Rev. Cal Page....) so many more over 30 years to name in this space, I'm appreciative of each and every one of you. Lastly, I thank God for my wife who started this journey initially with me a ministers wife but over the last 17 years has answered her own to call to ministry whom I'm honored to serve side by side with.

30 years ago God call me to ministry and the same issues, the same burning bushes that were are on fire and not being consumed are still burning. The burning bushes of racism, economic inequality, the abuse of those on the margins of life. I was sent 30 years ago to say to the Pharoah's of life to let the children of God go. As this journey continues, my faith in God has only strengthened, through the good and the bad, from the mountain top experiences and the trips through the valleys of life, when I'm asked what is the name of the who sent me, I'm still proclaiming that I've been sent by I Am. Who is I Am?, thank you for the question. I Am is the the maker and creator of all things. I Am is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I Am is the God the one who heals our bodies, I Am is our provider and our protector. I Am is a way out of no way, I Am is our shelter in our times of Storms. I'm grateful to I Am for His willingness to use someone as flawed as I am. Beloved it, I'm going to serve Him until he calls me home. I know without a shadow of a doubt, I've been sent by I Am!
