Shake The Dust Off

Acts 13: 48-52

48 Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. 49 And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region. 50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. 51 But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

Quickword: Shake the Dust Off

Paul and Barnabas continued to preach to the Jews and the Gentiles. At this point because their teachings were rejected by the Jews, they were commissioned by the Holy Spirit to preach unto the Gentiles. When the Gentiles heard the word they gladly receive and believed. According to verse 50, the Jews stirred up prominent men and women of the city against Paul and Barnabas and expelled them from the city. Paul and Barnabas shook off the dust from their feet as a testimony against them and went to Iconium. The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.

- Everyone who hears the word will not receive and respond positively.

- The enemy of the spreading of the Gospel will attempt to stifle the preaching of the word.

- When the enemy attemps to keep the word from going forward, as witnesses of Jesus Christ, shake the dust off as a testimony against the enemies of the cross.

Every believer is called to share the word of God to unbelievers. While sharing the word, sometimes you will be rejected, when that occurs just shake the dust off and move on. When we have done what we have been called to do, we are filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.
