Share the Word….

2nd Timothy 3:1-5

3 But know this, that in the last days [a]perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Quickword: Share the Word…

Paul‘s words of warning to his son in ministry are words that we should heed in the current environment in America. The ongoing divide in politics at all levels of government, the violence that we continue to witness and the unwillingness of those in power to address it maybe because they condone it. There are a lot of phrases being tossed about in an attempt to explain the current environment. I want to suggest that those phrases and attempted detailed explanations can be condesece to one word, sin.

- Scripture teaches us that we should not be surprised about the current state of the world, perilous times will come.

- Sin will take us to places we don’t want to go and keep us longer than we want to stay to the point that wrong in the eyes of many becomes normalized.

- Turn away from those who have a form of godliness but deny its power.

It is imperative for those of us who profess to know Christ to address the sins of the world. We must be willing to share the word of God everywhere we go. All of us have a platform and a sphere of influence. The Gospel is not combative but it is confrontational. Evil must be confronted by Good, Dishonesty must be confronted by Truth, Hate must be confronted by Love. To those of us who have been called there is and even greater responsibility to speak out, silence is concurrence. The times in which we are ministering demands that we come out of our comfort zones. This is a call to all of us to step up in the name of Jesus. It is up to us!
