The Arrival of the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:1-4

1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.

Quickword: The Arrival of the Holy Spirit

Upon his resurrection , subsequent showing himself to His disciples, and finally his ascension into Heaven, Jesus informed his followers of the coming of the Holy Spirit. Our Quickword today highlights what occurred when the Holy Spirit arrived. On the day of Pentecost, they were all together in one place.

- When the Holy Spirit arrived, suddenly a sound of a violent wind came from Heaven and filled the house.

- When the Holy Spirit arrived, they saw that which looked like tongues of fire that separated and rested on each of them.

- When the Holy Spirit arrived, those present began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

The promised coming of the Holy Spirit had come. The evidence of the presence of the power of the Holy Spirit included understanding one another despite barriers and being on one accord. The world in which we live in indicates the absence of the Holy Spirit. I want to strongly proclaim that the Holy Spirit is still present, yet our unwillingness to yield to the presence and power of the Spirit leads to the many divisions that are among us. I simply pray that we seek to be aware of the Spirit‘s presence in our lives. The third person of the Trinity is present among us, all we have to do is to acknowledge and yield to His presence. My beloved brothers and sisters, the Holy Spirit has arrived.
