Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NKJV)
9 Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.
11 Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Quickword: The Blessings of Friends
Over the last couple of days, my wife and I have had the pleasure to reconnect with some womderful friends. We have laughed, shared the ups and the challenges that we are currently facing in life. We shared meals, our visions for the future and prayed for one another. We are making plans to be intentional about spending time together in spite of the miles that separate us as we live in separate parts of the country. The heading introducing this text in my Bible labels this passage of scripture “ The value of a Friend”. This text reminds us of the blessings of Friendship:
- Friends are a blessing because we pick one another up when we fall!
-Friends are a blessing because they provide warmth when the world becomes a cold place!
- Friends are a blessing because they will fight with you and for you!
- Friends are a blessing because they pray for you in season and out of season!
This morning, I thank God for my friends, those who are located both far and near, I thank God for those friends who are no longer with us whose memories we carry daily with us. I pray that the chords of love through Jesus Christ continue to bind us together and not be broken. I encourage you today to reach out to friends just to let them know how much you value them and what a blessing they are to you.
