The Lord Knows..

Joel 2:12-14

12 “Now, therefore,” says the Lord,

“Turn to Me with all your heart,

With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”

13 So rend your heart, and not your garments;

Return to the Lord your God,

For He is gracious and merciful,

Slow to anger, and of great kindness;

And He relents from doing harm.

14 Who knows if He will turn and relent,

And leave a blessing behind Him—

A grain offering and a drink offering

For the Lord your God?

Quickword: The Lord Knows…

Over the weekend, we found ourselves once again dealing with mass shootings that left persons dead & injured in Buffalo NY, Laguna Woods, CA and Houston, TX. Shootings at a grocery store, church and a flea market. Today, I don’t have the words to describe where we are. I simply offer the scriptures from the Prophet Joel for us to consider.

- The Lord is calling us to turn to him with fasting, with weeping and with mourning.

- The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness.

- The Lord knows where we are individually and collectively. He knows the spiritual warfare that is ongoing in this nation.

I wish I could definitively say that things are going to get better soon. Honestly, I think things will get worse. Those persons and organizations that have a major sphere of influence seem to be more concerned about reelections, power, profits and self preservation. The false narratives that are being told about race, immigration, persons unwilling to work, trickle down economics, abortion rights, voting rights are just symptoms of warfare that’s designed to keep us separated. I know for certain that the God whom I serve is able to do anything but fail. So today and in the days to come I’m heeding the words of the Psalmist in Psalms 121:

1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—

From whence comes my help?

2 My help comes from the Lord,

Who made heaven and earth.

Dear God in Heaven, I come humbly before your throne of Grace. God you know where we as a nation, you know about the hatred and violence that fills our streets as evidence by the violent acts of this weekend. God, hear our prayers, forgive our sins, defeat and destroy every eneny that is waging war against your people. Help us to remain steadfast in an unstable world. God, we know you are still sovereign and remain supreme. Thank you for your Grace and Mercy in the name of Jesus. Amen
