Romans 12: 17-19
17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have[e] regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
Quickword: The Lord will fight our battles
There are times in our humanity that we desire to do evil unto others as they have done unto us. This text used as our background for today’s Quickword gives us guidance during these times:

- The ability to live peacefully with all men resides in us.

I know this is easier said than done. There are times when like the fictional character Madea is quoted as saying, “we get them before they get us”. As children of the most high God, we are called to heed to the word of the Lord and the word reminds us that vengeance belongs to the Lord. Simply stated if you find yourself at the point of wanting to fight back, I encourage all of us to sit still, the Lord will fight our battles.
