The Power of Prayer

James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Quickword: The Power of Prayer

I openly confess that I am deeply concerned where we are as a country. The continued partisan divide in our National, state and local governments over voting rights, measures to mitigate COVID19, potential conflict over Ukraine, increase in violence in communities across this nation just to name a few. Yet in my concerned, I’m thankful for the power of prayer. The words of James the half-brother of Jesus speaks directly to me as a means of encouragement personally and I pray that this Quickword speaks to the concerns you may be currently facing: James reminds us that there is Power in Prayer. In order to be emboldened through prayer we must:

- Confess our trespasses to one another and pray for one another that we may be healed.

- Our prayers must be effective & fervent, we must come to God in the right posture and not give up easily

-We must believe that the prayers of the righteous availeth much.

Will you join me in prayer: Dear God in Heaven, we come collectively to the throne of Grace as men and women who are in right relationship with you. We come confessing our sins to each other as we pray for one another. Your word teaches us that if we take up a posture of prayer and position ourselves humbly before you and pray fervently that our prayers will avail much. God, here we are, we pray that you will move in our land, we ask that our leaders would seek you for guidance and not political power. We ask now that you heal the land of COVID-19, God we asked that instead of fighting one another that you give us a spirit that causes us to pray for one another. God, we still believe in the power of prayer. Your word in 2nd Chronicles 2:14 informs us that if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. God hear our prayers, forgive our sins and heal the land In the name of Jesus! Amen
