The Power Of The Holy Spirit

Acts 2:1-4

1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all [a]with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them [b]divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Quickword: The Power of the Holy Spirit

This Sunday in the Christian Faith is known as Pentecost Sunday. Bible scholars will tell us that on the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit came in His fullness. It was on this day when the Apostle Peter being filled with the Holy Spirit preached and three thousand persons made the decision to become followers of a risen Christ. Today in our Quickword, I want to highlight that on the day of Pentecost those assembled were on one accord. What an amazing experience that must have been when men from different countries who spoke different languages were able to understand and communicate with one another when the power of the Holy Spirit came into His fullness.

- The Holy Spirit arrival on Pentecost Sunday is a fulfillment of prophecy

- The Holy Spirit comes to provide guidance, direction and comfort to every believer

- The Holy Spirit came when those gathered were on one accord

What a day that must have been on Pentecost Sunday! We live in a world, more specifically a nation that is more divided as ever. I truly believe Satan and his imps have unleashed demonic spirits that crave power over the welfare of people, riches over righteousness, and the desires of human flesh over the desire to seek the will of God. The inability of people to find common ground to address the issues that confront us, mass shootings, political corruption, poverty, inadequate health care for all citizens, affordable housing, racism, the roll back of the rights of women, relief of student debts and other issues that hinder us are the attacks of Satan. My beloved brothers and sisters, there seems to be a willingness and an appetite to feed all that is wrong and nothing that is right. Yet on this Pentecost Sunday, I’m encouraged because of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third and equal part of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit dwells within every believer. We must decide if we are going to receive or reject the word of God through the Spirit. I’m grateful to have experience the power of the Holy Spirit. He truly is a comforter and guide. On this Pentecost Sunday, let’s us allow the Holy Spirit to fall fresh among the people of God. The Spirit has the power to protect and to set the captives free. On this day I encourage each of us to allow the Holy Spirit room into our hearts and minds . Let us attempt to come together on one accord under the power of the Holy Spirit to live and worship together. You pray for me and I’ll pray for you and let us watch God change things. There is Power in the Holy Spirit!
