The Prayers of the Righteous avails much.

James 5: 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, [b]fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Quickword: The Prayers of the Righteous avails much.

This morning we have been inundated with prayer request from members of our church and community who are dealing with the realities of life. The sudden death of love ones, unexpected medical diagnosis, financial burdens and just in general trying to make it from one day to the next. Here in Chapter 5: verse 16 James, the half- brother of Jesus gives words that relevant for today. He calls us to pray because the prayers of the righteous avails much:

- As we enter into prayer, let’s us confess our sins because we all have fallen short of the glory of God.

- Let us pray for one another that we may be healed from physical, mental and emotional pain.

- Let us lift us prayers for one another in the name of Jesus. James reminds us that the effective, fervent prayers of the righteous avails much.

My brothers and sisters, whatever you are going through, please know I’m praying for you and I know you are praying for me.

Let’s Pray:

Dear God in Heaven, I come before your throne of Grace knowing that you are the maker and creator of all things in Heaven and on earth. Father God we lift the concerns that have been brought to us even on this morning. God you know what your sons and daughters stand in need of. Comfort those families who sit in the seat of bereavement from the loss of a love one. Comfort those who have a recent diagnosis and those who are in surgery even now. God, I pray for our youth and young adults who are under such tremendous pressure to fit into a world where every aspect of their lives is examined and critiqued. I pray that you remind them that that are beautiful and wonderfully made in your image. I pray for Pastors who lead congregations in such a time as this. God we need you like we have never needed you before. Have your way today in the name of Jesus! Amen!
