The Shepherd and His Sheep

John 10:25-30

25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me,is greater than all[c]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

Quickword: The Shepherd and His Sheep

In this text, the religious leaders of the day were pushing Jesus to declare that He was the Messiah. Jesus responded by saying I did tell you but you did not believe. Jesus further proclaimed that the works that He did in the father's name testify or make known who He is but to the religious leaders he said unto them, you don't believe because you are not my sheep. Jesus further proclaims my sheep listen to my voice and they followe me.

  • The works of Jesus make known His identity

  • The Sheep of Jesus listen to His voice and follow Him

  • The followers of Jesus will receive eternal life and never perish.

As followers of Jesus we are sheep who are blessed to have Jesus as shepherd. The good shepherd leads, the good shepherd provides, the good shepherd protects, most Im ithe good shepherd laid down His life and redeemed us from our sins. Thank God for the good shepherd who cares for His sheep.
