1 John 1:5-10
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness,we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[b] sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

We are at a pivotal time in our national history. Opening statements by a Congressional Committee to investgate the actions that led to the violence inflicted upon persons and damage at the U.S. Capital on January 6, 2021 demonstrates the need whatever your political affiliation to get to the truth. The truth resides in God!

Pray with me: Dear God in Heaven, we come humbly before your throne of Grace. We are witnessing and living in some perilous times. God we need you to move in this country as you have never moved. Touch grieving families, touch the hearts of humanity who have fallen into darkness. Father, we know that you are the light of the world and that truth resides in you. Open up our eyes to see, our ears to hear and our hearts to feel and receive. We pray for political leaders and others who are in power that they will seek you for guidance and direction. Hear our cries come before you, forgive us of our sins, speak to our hearts and heal the land. We put our trust in you in the name of Jesus.
