Unbothered Pt. 4

Psalms 37: 7-11

7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;Do not fret—it only causes harm.

9 For evildoers shall be [b]cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth.10 For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more;Indeed, you will look carefully for his place,But it shall be no more.11 But the meek shall inherit the earth,And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Quickword: Unbothered Pt. 4

Today, I want to continue with our Quickword theme of being unbothered. The meaning of UNBOTHERED is not feeling or showing agitation, worry, or annoyance . Here in our fourth installment from the 37th Psalms, the Psalmist reminds us of why we should be unbothered. We can be unbothered because we have learned to rest and to wait patiently on the Lord. If I can be honest with you, there will come a time in all of our lives when we will have to go through the ups and downs of life. It is in these moments that we can begin to worry or become agitated or we can be unbothered. This text reminds us that we can remain unbothered because:

Evildoers will soon be cut off

In a little while the wicked will be cut off

If we rest and wait on the Lord, we will delight in the abundance of peace

In life we are going to face adversity. There will be people whose sole purpose is to do you harm. There will be situations and circumstances that are designed to defeat and destroy us. The good news for those of us who wait on the Lord is that even in the midst of attacks, in the midst of life storms, we can remain unbothered. Being unbothered is not based on our own strength but we can be unbothered when we rest and wait on the Lord. Whatever you are going through, fret not, trust in the Lord and remain unbothered!
