We have been redeemed!

Isaiah 43 :1-2

1 But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,

And He who formed you, O Israel:

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by your name;

You are Mine.

2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.

When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,

Nor shall the flame scorch you.

Quickword: We have been redeemed!

My beloved brothers and sisters, we seemed to be bombarded with some challenge or obstacles on a daily basis. These challenges range from the increase cost of daily living and the growing divide between the have and the have nots. It seems as though there has been a line drawn in the sand and either we are a member of one party or another, regardless of any position the party takes without any thoughtful analysis. Yet today I want to suggest there is still good news for believers in God. The good news is that we have been redeemed. In this text in Isaiah 43, the word of the Lord reminds us that He is the one who is our creator, He is the one who formed us and as a result of who He is and who we are in Him, we are redeemed!

- We don’t have to be fearful because God has redeemed us.

- God calls us by our name because He knows us.

- God is with us! He will never leave or forsake us.

God is with us!!! When we pass through the waters, the rivers shall not overflow us. When we walk through the fire, we shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch us. It is my honest belief that the current season we are in will not end soon. Honestly, I believe that there are some very difficult days ahead of us. Yet even with this belief, I’m encouraged because I‘ve made up my mind to trust absolutely in God. I’m encouraged because God is still all powerful, God is still all knowing, God is still ever present. I’m encouraged because God is still sovereign, God still sits high and looks low, God is still our redeemer. As children of the most high God, take comfort in knowing that we have been redeemed! God calls us by name…We belong to him! We have been redeemed! Let the Redeemed of the Lord say so!
