We Have Not Been This Way Before

Updated: Jan 6, 2022

Joshua 3:4-5 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before.” And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.

Quick Word: “We have not been this way before “. In this text Joshua is preparing to lead the children of Israel across the Jordan River. Joshua makes this statement to the children of Israel as they carry with them the Arc of the Covenant which represents the presence of God. Joshua instructs the children of Israel to keep their distance in reverence to the Arc; he further tells the children of Israel that the way they need to travel to cross the Jordan River, that they have never been this way before. My beloved Brothers and Sisters as we travel this journey of life in this current season “We have never been this way before”. Yes, we as people of color have faced voter suppression, racism, a failed or complicated war effort, and corrupt politicians but we have never faced these challenges in the midst of a global pandemic where over 620,000 persons just in America have died as a result of Covid or its impacts on persons with preexisting conditions…We have never been this way before”! Yet, I have Good News! We serve a God who is able, a God who has never failed us yet. The Lord will do wonders among us; He is a keeper; but until He moves on our behalf in regards to our current conditions let us sanctify (set-apart) ourselves and wait on the Lord, for we have not been this way before!
