What Does the Lord Require?

Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love [d]mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

Quick-word: What does the Lord Require?

Today in my home state of Georgia, the trial of three Caucasian men will begin in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery nearly two years ago. I must openly confess my faith in the judicial system is hopeful at best. My observation are that justice is not blind only colorblind. When it comes to life in general and justice specifically, I attempt to draw from The Holy Scripture. Micah the prophet answers a very relevant question posed to the children of Israel; that question which is relevant today is what does the Lord require of us? This text reminds us that the Lord requires is..

- Do justly!

- To Love Mercy!

- To walk humbly with our God!

The children of Israel were rebelling against God and the Lord responds to them and I believe to us today to live out to the name. Those of us who call ourselves Christians need to ask ourselves if we are living up to the name. If we are not living up to his name we need to either change our name or behavior. I pray that justice will prevail in the Arbery case but even if it doesn’t, we know we serve a God who is just and faithful and will see us through!!
