Who Do You Say That I Am?

Luke 9:18-20

18 And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

19 So they answered and said, “John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

20 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am? Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.”

Quickword: Who So You Say That I Am?

Recently in a systematic theology class, we were discussing the doctrine of the Trinity. This particular course focuses heavily on the research an analysis of theologians such as Karl Barth and Karl Radner. During the discussion, I found myself responding to the questions posed by Jesus to His disciples, "But who do you say that I am. That's the focus of the Quickword dialogue today, who do you say that Jesus is? This is a personal question that each of us should address.

I don't have enough space in this Quickword to tell you who I say He is.

- He is my redeemer

- He is my healer and deliverer

- He is my comforter

- He is my shelter, He is my rock in a weary land.

My Brothers and My Sisters, I echo the sentiments of Peter, who is He? He is the Christ of God. He is the Savior of the world. He continually reveals Himself through His Grace and Mercy. He is everything that we need. David said it this way, The Lord is my Shepherd. Really we can stop at the is. The Lord is, He is present, He is all knowing, He is all powerful. He is our advocate and if we allow Him, His Spirit will dwell within us to guide, keep and protect us; Jesus, He is!
