Whose Report To Believe?

Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

Quickword: Whose Report To Believe?

While teleworking yesterday, I had the national news running in the background. I listen as reporters, political analysts, government officials and security specialist opined on the stories of the day, especially the discord surrounding the former president. Each one of them speculated based on what will be discovered in the days to come what will take place. The prophet Isaiah in chapter 53 and verse 1, asked the relevant question that as believers we need to answer. The question being whose report are we going to believe? I must confess, I was caught up in the back and forth. It became clearly visible to me that citizens of this country have made up their minds to side with one political party or the other. Phillipians 3:20 tells us that as believers in Christ, we are citizens of heaven. Today, Isaiah reminds us of one certainty, that being that the truth and our future resides in Jesus Christ.

- Like sheep we have all gone astray

- He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth

- He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation?

- Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him

If you have a moment, read the entire 53rd chapter of Isaiah; you will find the prophet reminding us, surmised in verse 5 that Jesus was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. My brothers and sisters, don’t get caught up in the drama of this world. Here me clearly, do your part, stay engaged, vote, work to better your community and support those who need a hand but in the grand scheme of things, make up your mind and know the report that you believe. The report that I believe is no matter the chaos and confusion of this world, we have the victory in Jesus Christ. Jesus still heals, Jesus still delivers, Jesus still provides, Jesus still protects, the report is clear, Jesus lived, died and rose again for your sins and my sins. Keep your faith in God, the report that I’ve read from Genesis to Revelation let’s me know that everything is going to be alright.
